About State ApprovalsMany states have mandatory annual state inspection programs for their residents. Part of the inspection process involves using a window tint meter to be sure the window tint is within the state specification to ensure driver safety. Certain states do not require that manufacturers have their units tested. This leads to inferior equipment in the market that simply is not in the best interest of the inspection station or the consumer. The end result is consumers having to remove tint from their vehicles which was within the state specification. In many cases legal action is brought forth against the station owner which, of course, leads to litigation and costly reapplications of the tint to the consumer’s vehicle. North Carolina, with over 7000 inspection stations, is clearly the leader and one of very few states that requires manufacturers to submit their equipment to a state selected independent laboratory for comprehensive testing. These tests which cost thousands of dollars include stray light interference, repeatability, tolerances, durability and other parameters. These tests protect both the station owner and the consumer. Monroe's Pocket Detective Window Tint Meters have met this stringent criteria which many states look towards when they select equipment for their own inspection programs. Other manufacturers did not pass the criteria. Monroe's Window Tint Meters are simply the best units available, have met the stringent test criteria, has the longest warranty and is the most affordable unit on the market today. It’s the only gauge manufacturered under strict ISO guidelines and is NIST traceable. When looking for a meter simply ask the question “are you approved for the North Carolina State Inspection Program”? If the answer is no, and they are not able to provide you with documentation that their equipment is approved in North Carolina, it’s safe to purchase elsewhere.
